What's the best time of year to go to the Florida Keys?

Never been. Want to plan a vacation for the family. Trying to avoid outrageous humidity, but want it warm enough to swim. TIA.

May-October for warmest water, but you are aware that the beaches in the keys are terrible?

Bahia Honda and Sombrero beaches in Marathon are beautiful. We went in August and the weather wasn't any worse than what you'd have in the OBX.

Spring break.

We stopped in key west during our cruise last spring break and it was super hot.

Agreed. You can take a snorkeling trip out of Bahia Honda too. There is always a nice breeze in the Keys, but I will say, as someone who previously lived in south FL, that the sun is super intense during the summer. For that reason, I find late spring or early fall (like now) preferable.

This, all day long.
Also, I've been to Bahia Honda State Park and it is a truly beautiful beach. Almost Caribbean quality.

Look at when the peak rates are for any location, and you likely have your answer. Late Summer is very hot and humid.
