| Can you rec a destination or resort for a family vacation in December. It needs to be a warm location and without a major Zika outbreak (e.g., Caribbean, Latin America). |
| Not really. Almost anywhere warm in December is also likely to have Zina by then, if it doesn't now. Maybe Seychelles, Mauritius, or Australia. |

Puerto Rico is a great place to visit. If you are not pregnant or planning to be, then go. Zika is everywhere in the Caribbean and southern part of the US. It is a mild virus for most people, but catastrophic for babies in the womb.
That's said remember that there are millions of children living and going to school in Puerto Rico that are alive and healthy despite the Zika virus. Dont be so prejudiced. Just take precautions...again if you are pregnant or want to get pregnant absolutely do not visit anywhere with Zika. On the contrary, then just go. |
OP specifically asked for zika and you are recommending a place with zika. |
|
I'm currently pregnant and looking for same. I am coming up short. I have 2 other kids and we may do Kalahari or Camelback in the Poconos. Kids can swim in waterpark and maybe try skiing/tubing.
I think Belize is zika free but not that warm in December. |
| No where in central or South America or the Caribbean is Zika free. Stay home or wait until you've had a baby. |
| What about resorts in arizona? |
There won't be snow but it's not reliably warm. Could be 50s and rain. |
| Hawaii |
| Hawaii had had twelve cases of Zika. People read the CDC information on Zika and stop this Zika phobia. It's a mild virus that affects the unborn and those with compromised immune system. some people don't even know they have. It leaves the body. Just go travel. |
Hawaii doesn't have local transmissions, which is what matters |

Zika is linked to Guillaian Barre, which can follow the mild virus part of Zika. Additionally, there have been some studies that suggest a possible long term link that could affect young girls and their fertility. There just haven't been enough studies done on long-term affects. Yes, I realize there are many people alive and well in countries with Zika outbreaks but it doesn't mean you need to join them before thinking it through carefully - for a vacation. |
+1 |
| Very few people get the Guillame Barr syndrome. It's been mostly older people with compromised immune systems. And long term effects. Please...it's none sense. It leaves the body just like every other mosquito virus. |
| We travelled to Puerto Rico this past summer with another family. No one got sick. We had our youg kids with us. It was great! And we would go back again. |
