| Hello, I'm trying to divorce an undiagnosed Narcissist. I'm on the verge of Bankruptcy, my current attorney will drop me since I'm running out of money. There's a minor child involved and I reside in Loudoun County, VA with no family and minimal friends. Can anyone please help me it's a Domestic Violence Case as well? |
| Can you do some of the legal legwork yourself? In Fairfax county, they have people to help fill out the documents and set things in motion. A lot of people in family court do not have attorneys. |
| There is someone always posting about a community resource in DV situations - I think it's called the Family Law Center. You may want to repost with "legal help needed in domestic violence situation" if you don't get enough responses here. You could also call a domestic violence hotline and ask about legal resources - many others have walked in your shoes. Best of luck to you. |
| I googled and saw Children's Law Center - they do pro bono work but I don't know if they practice in DC...you can call and see. But I am going to search around if I can find that other resource for you in another thread... |

Ok, here's one that was helpful to someone in a prior thread:

PP again - if you search "domestic violence" on this website, you will find other resources that people have recommended in the past. That's how I found the above link. Best of luck to you!! |
| The Women's Center in Vienna, VA should be able to refer you. They also have a lot of resources for dv and families. |
| Hi Everyone thank you so very much, I have clearly learned in Commonwealth of VA going pro she is not good. I have already paid my current attorney over $15k cash. I have such utter despair. I have also been working with an abused women's shelter however they can't help with any financial or free legal representation. I will take all your suggestions thank you. |
| I don't mean to be the voice of doom but virtually everyone in a divorce is looking for a cheap or pro bono attorney. Unless you have ZERO INCOME and are living in a shelter it's not going to happen. |

Unlikely this will be very helpful. http://www.lsnv.org/what-we-do/family-law/ I worked at legal services once upon a time (not that office though) and we were inundated with requests for pro bono help in family law cases. There was no way we could handle the volume of people that came to us seeking help. |
PP that worked at legal services. You'd be amazed how many poor people remain separated but not divorced because they can't afford the process of divorce including representation and filing fees. It blows my mind that custody/child support are so easy to do pro se but divorce is not (even when there are no minor children involved). |
They do. |
