Increasing TAG MS opportunities

All,

A group of parents are going to be advocating for expanding the TAG Middle School Magnet program so that all TAG identified kids would have the opportunity to attend TAG magnet MS programs. We envision an online petition, letter writing campaign and attending and hopefully addressing the School Board at one of their meetings.

I have heard that PGCPS administration believes that there isn't demand for TAG MS above what is offered.

Wouldn't the fact that there's a wait list prove there is demand? I've had at least one child on the Greenbelt Middle School TAG program wait list for the past 4 years. It's ridiculous.

You would think!
There were 332 eligible kids on TAG middle school wait lists as of mid-August. That doesn't account for the multitudes of parents who give up and a) pay for private schools or b)move out of the county.
The stats are really interesting if you dive into the numbers.
