| Child's teacher is pregnant. Teacher is fantastic, DC LOVES teacher. SOOOO bummed. Do parents have any ability to influence the selection of a good long-term sub for when the teacher goes on leave. I'm really worried about what may come & will hit middle of the school year. The usual subs are usually 1/2 decent at best. |
| Time for a life OP. |
| Not your concern. The school will do their best to find the best candidate to serve of the available candidates. |
|
If this only happens to your child once in your DC's school career you will be lucky.
Nothing you can do about getting a 'good' sub. Your child will survive it. Hope that you got a better reception from your colleagues or clients when you announced you were pregnant. |
| Legit concern, but, life happens and there's nothing you can do about it. Teach your child to stop this perpetual cycle of a woman having a baby being inherently wrong or a huge inconvenience to everyone and celebrate it! |
You cannot be serious. What makes you think you would be a good judge of the appropriate sub?? |
| OP, if you and the rest of the parent write enough letters, I'm sure you can get this pregnancy stopped. You should CC your ward rep and chancellor. |
+1, why should the teacher have a right to start her own family. you even liked her and she is doing this to you. |
| THIS is why young people don't want to go into teaching. Even fantastic teachers get crapped on for daring to have a life outside the classroom. |
| What an awful thing to see. Yes, post this in Expectant Moms too. |
| How dare she do that to YOUR darling. Damn her uterus! |
|
And how were YOU treated when you were pregnant, pray? Instead of wording your post: "For those of you who know the system, is there any way to influence a long-term substitute selection?" No, you chose to dump on the teacher. |
I'm not sure what post you read, but the one I read only said this about the teacher, "Teacher is fantastic, DC LOVES teacher". If that is considered dumping on the teacher, you guys can dump on me anytime. Folks, the OP has a legitimate concern. There is probably nothing she can do about it, but no need to attack her. |
| OP, our DD has a teacher who had her baby in the spring two years ago. They brought in a great LT sub who was already working in the school as an aide. She loved her and all was well. |
Is there another posted titled "grrr...pregnant teacher?" |
