Gift Suggestion for Another Mom

My playgroup is really close and we give a group gift on our child's birthday. It's no more than $12/person and we have 7 moms in our playgroup (so about $70 per gift when 6 moms pitch in).

Everyone is a SAHM, however, one of us is going back to work p/t as an art instructor. We'd like to get her something for work (we're so excited for her and she is thrilled!!) but are at a loss as to what to get. A personalized leather portfolio keeps coming up as an idea - as a place for her to jot ideas, etc. Everything we've found though looks, well, corporate.

Does anyone have a suggestion? None of us are artsy so we're stuck!

Do you know what kind of medium she uses? An artist always appreciates a new set of paint! Or gouache. Or whatever they use.

But I also like the portfolio idea.
