New baby = new dishwasher. Recs?

Anonymous
We need to upgrade our dishwasher to accommodate our new arrival. Any must-have models that clean well but don't break the bank? TIA!

Never heard of washing babies in dishwashers before. Get a big one for when s/he grows.

Not getting the correlation/need. What does the new super dishwasher need to do that the old one didn't ?

Anything with a third rack so you can wash baby bottle parts!

Well... what features are you looking for that will accommodate your baby?

What's the issue, OP? Noise? Ability to sanitize?

I have a Bosch we are super happy with. Went from super noisy to freaky silent. Love the third rack for silverware, thought it would be hard to get used to but we love it. The adjustable racks are great too.

Definitely not a must-have for a baby, but we like our upgrade.

We found the "top rack only" and "sanitize" functions super useful for pump parts, bottle parts, and now straw cups and other toddler paraphanelia. I'm a huge dishwasher user and I run it every night, full or not. So the "top rack" function is great for us.

Bosch 500 series or 800 series. We have an 800 series (just installed over the summer) and it works great. My only complaint is that it does not dry the dishes thoroughly, but that is a small downside to an otherwise excellent machine.

I've heard this from others, but our Bosch dries everything as well or better than our dishwasher with a heating element did. The dishwasher itself (like the side walls) isn't always completely dry, but the dishes are.

Do you use Jet dry? Are you blocking the vent? Ours has a vent on one side that the instruction manual said to make sure not to block. We wouldn't have known about it if DH wasn't someone who always reads the manual. It is kind of annoying because it is where we would have usually put tall cutting hoards, platters, etc, but we've figured out where to place stuff to avoid blocking it.

I love not having a heating element, but I would be so irritated if my dishes didn't come out dry.
