Because that election is not relative to what's happening today. We're discussing a very sick and unfit POTUS who was given an easy path to two presidential terms thanks to a toxic political climate that we all should be very concerned with.

You're going to solve 2024 by talking about it now, especially when that incredibly peculiar set of circumstances is never going to be replicated again? Okay, champ.

Had you listened in 2019, Trump would have never won a second term so there is that. Otherwise, I do agree that we shouldn't dwell on past mistakes as long as those mistakes are acknowledged and learned from. Let's put this behind us and all promise to demand an open and fair primary election in 27/28.

No, that was just MAGA being a-hats. There was nothing that was going to stop the bee up the butt that some people had about their feelings being hurt. Sorry. The hand was dealt, and now they had a chance to see what they could do when they won it all. Such bigly winning, much great USA. Oh boy oh boy.

GOP broke it, now GOP owns it. Sad.

It's time to focus on how to steer this ship away from as much of the wreckage they have wrought as possible.

If you're lucky enough to live to be 79 years old, you won't be as fluent when doing anything as you used to be. Trust me.

Yes, and none of us will hold the office of POTUS.

It's disgusting what he has smeared on this country with his presence.

+1

How people were duped into supporting Trump and Biden over people like Harris and Haley is beyond me. The IQ of our electorate is at an all-time low.

Haley endorsed Trump. She should stay far away.

No one should be butt hurt when accepting the fact that Trump and Biden never had any business being considered to serve as POTUS. It isn't rocket science. We aren't this stupid collectively. We all need to start acting like adults and taking our votes more seriously. This is beyond ridiculous.

OMG you are sooooo boring. Truly, I am wondering if MAGA is trying to kill critical thinkers with boredom?

Biden is not president. There is so much wrong with the present, there has NEVER been more wrong with the present. There is so much to say and do about the present. Why in the world are you obsessed with the past? And why do you keep saying it again and again ad nasueum. Move on, PLEASE.

First of all, you can't arbitrarily stop history at Biden. Biden was elected because of Trump's horrific response to Covid. He was elected because he was a sweet, kind person after the most unpopular president in our history. People were looking for a personality as opposite of Trump as they could find, someone decent to cruel, someone honest to his corrupt. So, if you take a tiny peek, it goes back to Trump!

Stopping at Biden is truly arbitrary. You can go further and further and spend a lot of time studying how Reagan changed voters views.

History is important, it is crucial. But when someone stands out, when someone defies the courts and disregards the Constitution, when someone eliminates all the safety nets in our system, when someone rules by intimidation , when someone tries actively to divide us rather than bring us together... when one person, above all others, brings the United States (us! this country!) so close to authoritarianism, we focus on HIM.

There has never been and I hope never will be a worse president in our history.

Oh look. It’s the poster who constantly has to make themself feel better by pretending Biden was just as bad as Trump. He wasn’t. You don’t actually know anything about Biden’s presidency. You have not bothered to learn what disaster he was handed and how he did everything in his power to fix it. You just throw out the same gop talking points and have no clue what the reality is. Yes, Biden is old. Yes, he was not up for a second term. But he saved this country, and history will be kind to him. Trump, on the other hand. He will go down in history as one of the worst things that has ever happened to this country.

Carter had a lower average approval rating than those two but that was mostly due to economic fallout from the Vietnam War he had no control over. Trump and Biden earned their historically low approval ratings.

Yes, people with dementia can live decades.

True but just FYI to the nut jobs who elected Trump & Biden- they shouldn't be president!!!!

Why are people so confused on here. Biden isn't the president. Trump is. The but what about Biden poster has to be suffering from Early Alzheimers/Dementia, because he keeps repeating himself over and over and talking about Biden like he's still relevant. Just like Trump keeps talking about Obama like he's also still president. Dude it's 2025 Trump is the president.

Trump is president thanks to Joe Biden. I think that's the problem many people fairly have with Biden but you're right, time to focus on the current and future problems instead of a problem from our past.

Really? The Republican Party chose Trump as their candidate because of Biden? If that were a reasonable argument, you’d think that the Republicans would have chosen someone younger — instead of someone who will not only be older than Biden at the end of his second term, if he makes it that far, but who is showing clear signs of decline, to put it mildly.

So, PP, since I’m sure I’m missing something, how exactly is Trump president “thanks to Joe Biden?”

Correct, the nominations of Trump and Biden are completely baffling. Biggest mistakes our electorate has made in modern history for sure.

At least the Dems were smart enough to show Biden the door after one failed term. The GOP idiots are making us endure two terms of Trump failures.

Biden admin rescued the country that Trump tried to sink. He was shown the door before his second term.

That would be a fair argument had Biden's 2024 campaign debacle not gifted our worst POTUS ever a second term. Biden's legacy is now defined by Trump's second term which doesn't bode well for Biden's legacy.

Nope. The voters are to blame for this mess. 💯

Trump was not an unknown, the extent of his incompetency was on full display 2017-2021.

The Dem voters weren't given a chance to nominate a candidate running in a fair, open, and competitive primary in 2016, 2020, and 2024. This is how a weak and unfit candidate like Trump is capable of winning two of three general elections. It's a very sad state of dysfunction throughout our political landscape.

Are you an idiot? Primaries were held in all three of those election years, and in every state. In 2016 voters chose Clinton rather than Sanders but the race was competitive at first. In 2020 it was a wide open field, and both Warren and Harris briefly led, and Buttigieg making a strong showing as well. In 2020 Biden overwhelmingly won each primary because he was the incumbent (just as Trump had no real primary challenger in 2020). Stop lying about how “undemocratic” Democrats are.

Lol.. tell us you know nothing about the toxic influence of money in politics without telling us you know nothing about the toxic influence of money in politics!

2016- mega donors had been making it clear since 2009 that HRC was their choice for the 2016 nominee and this is why HRC's only competition was Sanders, the Marianne hippy, and some other nobody ex-marine who I can't remember their name. After having 8 years to plan and prepare for the 2016 primary, there were only two viable candidates worthy of being on a primary debate stage- HRC and Sanders. Sanders was competitive enough to make the mega-donors nervous and angry and therefore the DNC used their underhanded tactics to quell Sander's momentum. Disgusting!!

2020- Sanders and Warren were leading in the polls summer/ early fall 2019 which of course drew the ire of mega-donors. Needless to say, a public messaging campaign was formed to push the idea of a more mega-donor friendly nominee. No one is more mega-donor friendly than a swamp 50 year politician who has always played nice with mega-donors.

2024- Biden unfortunately had every right to run for a second term as the incumbent POTUS and the fate of the 2024 election was sealed the day the very unpopular 80 year old sitting POTUS announced his intent to seek a second term.

Sorry, I know these truths hurt but that doesn't mean we should ignore these truths. All this being said; at least the Dem Party isn't the party who nominated Trump three consecutive times!!

A lot of Dem women hated the Bernie Bros. They’re toxic. That’s why Bernie wasn’t going win. Warren lost to Biden because of sexism. There are studies about this and the sexism by proxy that tanked her.

If Dems had ranked choice and single day primaries we’d have better candidates. I never got to vote for Warren.

Warren and Sanders lost to Biden due to the mega-donors not wanting Warren, Sanders or any other unknown commodity to be the nominee. This is Joe Biden were talking about; not Obama or Reagan. 77 year old Biden wasn't the caliber of POTUS candidate who could win a primary on a level playing field. This is the same guy who got destroyed by two legitimate POTUS candidates back in the 2008 primary when Biden was in his mid sixties and still reasonably fit. Oh, and by the way, one of those candidates who crushed Biden and booted him from the race after the 1st state primary in 2008 was a woman competing with Biden on a level playing field.
