Infertility Support and Discussion
| I just had my first (and hopefully final) IVF on Saturday. I had some mild initial cramping for about a day, but it stopped. However, today (Tuesday) I started cramping again (very mild). I am just hoping that this is normal. Anyone experiened this? |

That's a really good sign. The only time I conceived (and I've done ivf 6 times, conceived 2x), I had cramping, 2-3 days after the procedures were completed.
OMG! I hope it works out for you. Baby dust!!!! |

It's certainly normal and can be due to a pregnancy or to the medications that you're on (mainly progesterone).
I had BAD menstrual like cramps with both positive and negative IVF cycles. It's SO hard to predict IVF success based on symptoms because the medications mimic pregnancy really well. I was shocked, SHOCKED when my one cycle didn't work because I absolutely felt pregnant. |
| I agree with 17:57 that it's hard to take any lessons from the appearance of one symptom. Although the 2ww feels eternal, try as much as possible to rest and not stress yourself out. If you're feeling cramps, head to the couch or bed and put your feet up and stay hydrated. For me, the most important thing was to feel like I wasn't doing anything affirmative that might lead to a negative outcome; it's the only mild form of control I found in the process. I did have mild cramping throughout the 2ww with my IVFs, one of which wasn't successful, one which ended up with a miscarriage and the third that led to this pregnancy (I'm at 38 weeks). There is such a wide range of "normal" for women in this process, so just be good to yourself and try to take it easy. (Easier said than done, I know!) |
| Of course there are no guarantees, but my general impression is that cramping in the 2ww after IVF is a good sign. We'll see, for you. Good luck. |
