My wardrobe hasn't really been updated in a few years -- I need suits and work clothes - at work, I can't get away with the more casual Ann Taylor Loft skirts and shirts that I used to (because of a new job).
I walk through stores, I see nothing I love and that looks good on me, I have bought a few things and then not worn them. For what it's worth, I'm a mid-thirties size 6 or 8, so this shouldn't be that hard. Can anyone recommend a good shopping assistant or a place to start?? thanks! |

Work basics:
Black three piece suit (skirt and pants). Ann Taylor fine, or try Tahari outlet (not sure what your budget is), or Banana Republic, JCREW for slim fitting good basics. JCREW suits are great in my opinion. Check on line, you can return at store if you don't like. In fall, Zara has some fun mix in pieces. 2-3 pencil skirts, sounds like your figure can handle. One a rich beige; black; navy pin striped; possibly brown Above pencil skirts could come with jackets (suit) or get a textured interesting jacket to go with the above in a dark cream or other such neutral Pencil skirts: Wear with crisp 3/4 sleeve shirt (JCREW has some on sale) in white or other crisp color. Great sling backs in Spring/Summer. Come winter, pair with suit jacket or slim cut cashmere sweater (again JCrew has good ones), opaque tights in same color as skirt and pumps or heeled boots for work. Jewlery: diamond studs (good fakes at Nordstrom); classic watch-- even Timex has some very nice affordable options; occasional interesting necklace; pearl bracelet; large pearl studs I like Bloomingdales a fair amount. One at Mazza is great. Great bag-- spend here. Shoes: I always think a pair of black sling backs and pumps are key. I also like a classic red without hoses in the summer and I like a cognac color, prefer slingbacks. 2 sheath dresses ala the first lady. Colors of your choice. I think a black is a must have. Have had mine for 12 years from Donna Karan. |
