hi folks:
i am in the market for a new foundation. i use prescriptives "virtual skin" and it doesn't give me enough coverage. i have acne prone skin and this humidity is also killing me. i'd like to try a powder foundation or perhaps a liquid foundation that also comes with a pressed powder compact that i can use for touch ups. post lunch time, i feel like my face is back to looking splotchy. ah, the joys of acne after 30. anywway, any brand recommendations appreciated. i have both fair and sensitive skin, too. tia! |

I just started using Bare Minerals, and I can't say enough good things about it! I'm late to the party, since it's been around a long time, but I finally decided to try a sample when they had a promotion a couple of months ago. I was amazed that something as light as a powder could actually provide better coverage than a liquid foundation or double-pressed powder.
I would suggest you go to a BM store (Tysons has one) and have them do a makeover or color match your skin. I also LOVE their concealer powder - somehow it works better than a cream. I also have occasional acne, circles under my eyes and a red nose. You would never know it when I'm done with my powders and it takes no time! |

I have fair and sensitive skin, also prone to acne. This used to be a horrible time of year for me, makeup-wise.
I have tried every foundation out there, including the mineral ones. I found Revlon ColorStay liquid foundation to work the best - even in this humidity or when working out, it really doesn't streak and looks fresh and natural. You can buy a few different shades at the drugstore and return whatever doesn't work out. I use "Buff" in the winter and "Sand Beige" in the summer when I'm a little darker. You will probably find that it doesn't require powdering, but I believe there is also a ColorStay powder that goes with it. |

Stila and Lancome also make a powder foundation in a compact that you can use wet or dry. I think thats the same type as the MAC but I can't exactly remember. Both are fairly light coverage though, so may not be heavy enough.
I'd like to try bare minerals too, but every time I think about it I am scared off because I have dry skin. Any dry skin BM users out there with good reviews? |

I agree wholeheartedly with 11:58 poster. I have very sensitive, acne-prone, rashy skin, and Bare Minerals has done wonders. People don't really know what's different but tell me I look great. I can even exercise in it, not wash my face right away, and be just fine.
I went to Tysons (spent about 1 hr), to get the low-down on how to use the products, then watched the DVD that came with them, for more advice. Once you have it figured out, it's easy and quick. |

Powder foundation is a crock. It looks cakey and doesn't have staying power.
Try Bobbi Brown's Skin Foundation. The newest foundation from that line. Comes in a pump. Perfect "natural" coverage. But like all liquid foundations, you'll need a powder to set it and a pressed powder for touch ups. I like MAC's Blot powder for touch ups. |
| Agree with BB Skin Foundation. Covers wonderfully and lasts through humidity. |
