Hi,
I'm looking for some great ideas for our Daisy Girl Scout Troop. It is our second year, and we have only two petals left to earn. What did your girls most enjoy? Any great local field trip ideas or people we can bring in to meetings? What did your daisies do in their second year when they were done earning their petals? Did they do a Journey or just other fun activities? I know there are lots of great ideas on Pinterest, but it would be nice to know what the girls really ended up liking. Any feedback would be great! Thanks! |

Have you done the leaves? I know those are usually based in financial education. I recall my girls enjoying a budgeting activity that we did using Monopoly money. It's been a few years so I don't recall the details. We took the entire two years to do them.
Look into program kits offered through GSCNC. Once I got the one with the giant parachute to work on teambuilding. They have patches you can earn (and buy at the GS stores) associated with those program kits. One of the activities I know our girls liked was going to Great Harvest and learning how bread was made, and kneading their own. Other field trips - animal shelters, firehouse, police station, Auntie Anne's. Check out Rallyhood and some of the FB GS groups too. Enjoy! |
| PP here - also, if you are in Fairfax, look at Parktakes for Daisy programs! |
| One more... have you done a sleepover yet? Or an evening program? Look into progression to camping. |
| Thanks! We are in Montgomery County MD. |
| I would ask on the Rallyhood forum, if you're not signed up on that Girl Scout website, you should. It's pretty active and parents and troop leaders post ideas all the time. |
| I'd do the leaves if I were you. And maybe take a trip up to the Girl Scout store so you can see all the special "just for fun" badges available for kids to earn. |
