Has anyone tried StarFit in Alexandria or Arlington?

It's personal training for women in groups of 1-4 with a focus on building strength, etc. The website focuses quite a bit on weight loss as a stated goal (nutritional support provided, weight loss challenges, etc.) and weight loss isn't my issue. The photos on the site show clients who need to lose weight.

I'm curious if anyone has gone and wondering if its going to not be a good fit if I'm there and I don't need to lose weight.

Also looking for general feedback on whether people like it.

It's awesome! I've been a client of Alexandria since shortly after it opened, the focus on weight loss has shifted since they opened. I was a little leary about the "women only" part that it would be an easy workout - but that is definitely not the case. Check out the facebook/instagram pages and you'll get a great idea of what the workouts are like. There are definitely clients who are weight loss focused, but I'd say there are more who are focused on fitness.

They do offer an optional "back to basics" session every 6 weeks or so, if you sign up for that it's a focus on nutrition and weight loss and whomever loses the most weight gets a prize (tshirts maybe? I've never signed up for it.)

I think they offer a free week, it's definitely worth trying out and seeing if it's a fit for you. The owners and trainers are all awesome and pretty laid back - they'd love for you to sign up, but you won't get the hard gym sell from them.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

I have been doing it now for 2 weeks. I love it!! the hr goes quick and it feels like I have my own personal trainer. The limit is 4 people working out with a possible of a overlap of 4 others. A class starts every 30 Minutes that is where the overlap happens. It is never a problem the conversation between everyone in the class is light and it makes the hr go even quicker. All levels of people are working out. You get a free workout with different options to sign up for not a hard sell by the owners. A very nice place with good trainers.

I am op of this post and its not an ad. I have tried other clubs X-sport, Orangetheory in the last 3 years and have not stuck with it. I like Starfit because I am lifting weights and the time does go by really quick. I signed up for 3 months and I see myself extending it.

Bump. I saw this one near my house in Arlington. Like the OP I'm not focused on weight loss really. I'm
5'5" and 135 so could lose a few pounds but more would like to get stronger and learn how to lift weights.

Anyone doing this more recently? Is it always $19 a week? That will add up fast.

I know a couple of women who go to the one in Lee Harrison shopping center and they like it. I think you can drop-in for a class if you just want to check it out.
