As a single mom about to embark on the dating scene I have been contemplating background checking potential suitors (maybe not after the first or even second date - but if things got serious before I involve my kids).
i have heard of guys who prey on single mom's just to get to their kids & figure that my first duty is to my children. I would think that even single fathers have duty to go an extra mile too that they may not consider if they were only living for themselves. What are your feelings on this - invasion of privacy or responsible precaution? |
I admit it! I am a single mom who Google's her dates!
It may seem severe but with the way that our world is today it doesn't take more than a second to type someone's name into Google. If you know where they are employed, even better! |
OP here - well I've also seen where you can get those online background checks for less than $100. Like I hinted at in my post it seems like an invasion but when there are children involved it seems justified to me. |
I've done one of those online $100 background checks (for a prospective nanny) and it didn't really yield a whole lot of information. Just a bunch of addresses and phone numbers. |
http://www.screenthem.com/ -- you can do a social security # verification (ie they are who they say they are) plus criminal/credit check. dunno how you would get the relevant info, though. I have used them to screen prospective tenants (we rent out part of our house). hth |
