Interested in hearing your girl's experience with ADHD meds

Very curious what the impacts of meds are on girls, the outcomes and if it is different than boys.

Concerta made her cry. Was on vyvanse for 4 years. Just switched to adderall xr as it doesn't make her as anxious

Definitely impacted appetite.

Inattentive ADHD. Middle School. Concerta has been great for her. She can focus in school, it helps her remember things and organize her thoughts and behavior more easily. There are enough kids taking ADHD meds that she doesn't feel particularly weird or broken for taking meds.

My daughter was on adderall. She became hyper sexual and actually has less impulse control while on it.

I am female. I take adderall XR. It dramatically reduces my anxiety (which was unexpected). Otherwise, just improves my focus. It doesn't make me jittery or high- to me, it feels much milder than coffee does.

Focalin XR for what is officially combined type, but inattention is a bigger problem. It works well; teachers can definitely see a difference in work production on the days we forget. Some appetite suppression, but honestly she was never a big eater. No sleep problems.

Pretty much the same experience. I will note that my DD seems to be maturing awfully early (has breast buds and pubic hair at not yet 10), but I have not been able to find anything that would indicate Focalin XR has contributed to this.

I'm the pp you're quoting. My DD is also not quite 10 and has no signs of puberty, fwiw.

I didn't see this thread before, so I'll just post here:

My teen DD was diagnosed over the summer with ADHD/Inattentive. Also, her providers are concerned she might be having absence seizures. She was started on 10 mg Adderrall XR daily. She likes it and feels better, except it wears off too soon, like by noon or early afternoon. Some days it works, other days it doesn't. Some days she has a crash, other days she's fine. Some days she gets a high, some days she has pretty severe mood swings. Her psych recently increased her dosage now to 15mg daily, but she wants more because she thinks it either wears off or stops working.

She was hypersexual, moody, depressed/anxious, and has very little impulse control and impaired executive function to begin with, the Adderrall has had no effect on any of that except for a slight improvement in focus. It decreases her appetite though. I am wondering if she's bipolar, or if she needs to be on a different medication, and what effect possible seizures may have in any of this.
