Is there a protocol? I have been team Hilary since day 1 and there is no way I would vote for Trump. That said she is losing my trust first with emails now with health. I've had pneumonia and it wiped me out so me heart goes out to her. I am alarmed that presidential candidates aren't required to release all their health records (and tax, but that's another thread mostly aimed at Trump since Hilary released 10 years).
To be clear, this thread is not another place to speculate on Hilary's health. I am just wondering if the conspiracy sites are correct and if she did have more serious issues in the next month, what then? Could Biden step in? |
I don't follow you at all.
Pneumonia is an acute infection. Releasing her medical records a month ago wouldn't have revealed that. While a serious illness, it is curable with antibiotics and rest. Granted, a presidential candidate doesn't really have much opportunity for rest, but it's not like some disqualifying illness. Trump's clear mental illness is disqualifying, I think. And his refusal to release his tax returns should be more scandalous than his affection for Putin. |
The op is suggesting that there is an underlying medical condition that has led to the falling, the pneumonia, etc.
I believe op is asking what the process would be if it turns out that Hilary has some serious illness? What if she collapses on the debate stage? Op isn't the only democrat terrified. What are the options if she can't finish this campaign? Is it Kaine? Does the DNC have ability to put, say, Biden in the top spot on the ticket? |
vp does not automatically get spot, unless election day has passes. |
IF that's all it is. We don't know that since she refuses to release her medical records. If she did, and there's no "there there," she would put all this conjecture to rest. |
This is not the thread for debating whether or not she has a more serious condition. If she does turn out to have more serious medical issues what is the protocol? If you want to debate her current health without knowing what is in her medical records there is another thread for that. |
VP does not automatically get the spot unless the candidate becomes unable to lead between the Electoral College decision and Inauguration Day.
I believe the party can make a switch of Presidential candidate prior to this but Amendment 20 (I think) deals with such circumstances. |
As much as it pains me to say this: if she collapses again like she did yesterday, the release of records will be irrelevant. People will judge with their own eyes that "something is wrong." As much as the campaign doesn't want to admit it publicly, yesterday was catastrophic for her campaign. If it were to happen again (at a debate, on the plane, at a rally, etc.), it could be the end of her campaign. |

Unfortunately, between her health, the emails, and her "deplorables" comment, I think her campaign is on its last leg. I wish her only the best. I also think if she truly cared about the Democratic Party, she would step aside. Given the possibility of a Trump presidency, it is the right thing to do at this point. I believe Biden would easily beat Trump. |
She'll be very low profile until the debates. The less she's out in public, the fewer opportunities for a repeat performance. Really sad that a candidate's chances are improved by hiding. Also, is it a standing debate or a sitting debate? It's hard to stand in one spot for 90 minutes, even if one is healthy. |
OK, this is ridiculous. Of the 22 threads on the front page as of now, 11 or exactly half are about Hillary Clinton's health.
This is exactly the tactic of the birther movement: create enough noise that it drowns out any other discussion. Before you know it, Breitbart will be demanding a sputum sample to verify her diagnosis. Even if there are legitimate concerns, one or two threads should suffice. 1. Hillary diagnosed with pneumonia 2. What is the protocol oif a candidate can no longer run? 3. The anti Clinton Ads you've been waiting for Just One Wrong, Deplorables, cough, cough How many of us will vote for Hilary on a ventilator in the ICU over Trump? 4. Team Hillary's plan re: health announcement 5. Fainting 6. Hillary Clinton has 'medical episode' at 9/11 ceremony 7. A Candidate's Death Could Delay or Eliminate the Presidential Election 8. HRC - Earpiece or Hearing Aid? 9. What if a candidate died? 10. Did Hillary have a seizure? 11. michelle obama should take hrc's spot |
Oops 12. I missed one |
You're absolutely right. Let's talk about how she believes that at least one quarter of the American people are "deplorables." |
Get used to it--if HRC wins this how it will always be--Look at twitter right now: Hillary's Body Double is trending FFS. Sigh. |
