Expectant and Postpartum Moms

I'm having an amnio next week (Monday morning). My mother will take my 3-year old for the rest of the day. How long is it recommended to rest (I'm assuming in bed) after an amnio to minimize risk of miscarriage? Will I need a sitter on Tuesday too?
Thanks!! |
| I stayed home from work the day after mine, and had my mom pick up my daughter from day care. The next day I went back to work as usual, but still had husband/mother lift my daughter. I don't think bed rest is necessary, unless your doctor specifically advises it (mine didn't, and I asked). |
| Whoops, 14:49 here... I meant to say I stayed home from work the day OF mine. I went to work the day after the procedure. |
| I took it easy for a full 48 hours. |

I also took it a bit easy on the day of the procedure and was back at work the next day. I think the only thing the doctor told me was to not over exert myself and not to lift heavy things. Hope it goes well for you!

Ditto. I stayed in bed as much as possible. |
| I was overseas when I had my amnio and it was actually an inpatient procedure - I had to stay one night at the hospital. It was sort of nice to get a break from my 3 year old but at the same time I was bored silly. But I concur, 2 days of rest would be good. |
| Thanks for all the input - my mom is going to take my daughter both Monday and Tuesday so I won't have to lift her and she won't be bouncing all over me. |

I went to work the day of the procedure and the next day, and walked to Metro as normal, but I didn't run to make any walk signals, and I didn't do my usual "helter-skelter dash down the escalator" to catch any trains. I also skipped my daily workouts for two days.
(I was a low-risk pregnancy, other than being 36.) |
