Do you like your spouse's nieces and nephews less than your own?

I was talking to a friend who believes that everyone loves their siblings children more than their spouse's siblings kids.
I thinks that is crazy. I don't differentiate link that.
My friend doesn't consider her spouse's nieces and nephews to be her nieces and nephews. Who is weird here?

OP - Do you have nephews and nieces on both sides of the family?

I think it depends on when you joined the family, how close you are to the different sibs etc.

I talk to my sister all the time so I know a ton about her kids and love them more in a real way because I actually know them / care deeply about them because I know them.

My husband and his brother talk rarely and not about the kids. I don't know a whole lot about them and I'm not willing to take on the role of my husband maintaining relationships with his family, so I don't feel as strongly connected to those kids.

no. It really comes down to who we see the most and who we bonded with the most.

I am closer to some cousins on my H side than I am to some of my own nieces because we spend tons of time with them.

The weird part is the assumption that because of blood relations you would.love them more.

I actually feel closer to my fiancé's niece and nephew than to my sibling's kids. Fiancé's brother invites us over more and we just have a more open and fun relationship with fiancé's brother than with my sibling. So like someone else said, we spend more time with them so sometimes it does feel like I like them more than my own relations.

I like the ones who are smartest best. I'll take smart and badly behaved over basic and boring any day.

Closer to my friends' kids. DH's siblings are competitive and make critical comments about DH and our kids that my friends would never make. My siblings live overseas and therefore the cousins are not close.

I certainly do. My DH's sisters kid is extremely difficult and spoiled.
