My DC has been in a well known nurturing private school since pre-primary. Unfortunately, we cannot afford to continue to send her to private school for 7th grade. I have been beyond stressed and so is my daughter. Our local school does not offer anything close to what she has ben prepared for academically and we are both scared to death of what she will encounter socially. I have looked into charter schools and have talked to parents and quite frankly have not been impressed. At this point, I am thinking about home schooling her. Are there any parents out there who have home school a middle school child at least temporarily? I'd like to know more about resources, networks and oppotunities to collaborate with other kids. |
There's a great online school, The Potter's School, or you could use teaching services like Harvester. Below are the links:

What is your local MS? |
Not impressed at all with Cap City Public Charter School? Our friends with kids there---most of them elementary-aged, granted---rave about the place. |
I too have heard great things about Cap City. Unfortunately, I am in the market for a middle school (7th grade). |
what about a cheaper private school. Not sure where your DD is, but if in DC, you can definitely find something cheaper in MD or even, VA. |
They now have a middle school, as does Oyster and Washington Latin... |
Cap City goes through grade 9, and is adding a grade a year, so your child would be covered
