Should I get breast implants?
After nursing for a year, my breasts have shrunken to a very small A. I know this sounds ridiculous, but they are making me miserable. I feel like I look like a little girl and I hate the way they look, even in my clothes I feel so deflated! Should I get breast implants? I am seriously considering it. I know they are very common, but I would love some feedback. Do you have them? How was the surgery/recovery? Was it worth it? How much did it cost? Anyone think it is a bad idea? |
| Have you considered Brava? When I am done having all my children, I will do that. I don't need to be a C, I just want to be what I was before pregnancy. |
| are you having any more kids? if it's a possibility, I'd wait. |
|
OP here. I think I will have one more child. I guess it would be better to wait?
What is Brava? |

You'll want to do more research to review how people feel about it and talk to a doctor. Some people seem really happy with the results but not everyone is. Also, if you want to be bigger than you were before, I don't think that happens often. Again, I haven't done it yet. For this, you definitely wait until you are done with kids. |
| You should definitely wait. The surgery needs to move ducts around and therefore can impair your ability to breastfeed - it did for me. |

I'm intrigued by Brava after looking at their website.
Any idea how much it costs?? (of course they won't tell you on the website, only that it's 1/3 to 1/6 the cost of surgery, but I don't know how much the surgery would cost and I'm sure it varies a lot!) |
| You should try to accept your body as it changes as you grow older. |
I think it's great if you can accept or even better, embrace age-related or post-baby changes, but not everyone ages so gracefully. Some of us need repairs.
Having children was by far the most meaningful, amazing, fulfulling thing I have ever done. I would never change it. But I wasn't able to happily accept my new body, complete with varicose and spider veins, so I had them treated. I dont' see much difference in doing something about the saggy, teeny barely-A cups my babies left me with, and some day I'll do something about them too. If it truly makes you unhappy with yourself, I say go ahead and change it! (not the OP, just jumping in here) |
| I think someone is trying to sell the Brava system - I call SPAM |
Seriously, I am not. I am the PP. I haven't done it, have no stake in the company, but will see years from now (after all the kids are born) what my options are. |
| I worked on breast implant litigation and would never, never, never allow my daughter/sister/mother to get implants. Granted, those implants were from a generation ago, but still, implants are foreign objects placed into your body near vital organs. Your body may attempt to reject the implants in various potentially harmful ways. After reading reams of patient folders and seeing countless photos of implants gone awry, I would strongly suggest that you attempt to come to terms with your perfectly healthy, normal, productive body! |
OP here - thank you all for your comments. I do completely agree with the above poster about embracing my body, which I do! However, it's hard to swallow that I have these little saggy boobs. While they are healthy and reproductive, they are FAR from normal. Seriously, it makes my stomach drop when I have to put on my A bra that feels too loose. It's tragic! If you had asked me a year ago if I would ever consider implants I would have said, "no way." Now, I day dream about them. Maybe I will try Brava first…. |

OP,
Here's a suggestion - I mean it in all earnestness, not trying to be snarky. Go to Victoria's Secret or even Target and buy the bra fillers (not sure what they are called, but basically they are pads that you put inside your bra) - they are gel filled or pads. Lots of celebrities use them to give some cleavage or make them look bigger in clothes. This may solve at least part of the problem, ie, how you look/feel in your clothes. I use them myself at times. I have considered implants, but ultimately decided against. I don't always wear the pads, but sometimes do in certain outfits where I look like I don't fill out properly or just don't look proportional. It's a cheap fix. Might not fix the problem when you look in the mirror, but at least in clothes, you might be satisfied. It's safe too. Good luck! |
| I'm a male and. let me tell you, its not about the breasts - it's all about the nipples. No woman needs breast implants if she has nice nipples. |
