"One day, Bondi's office told this newspaper it was reviewing complaints from Floridians who said they felt swindled by the Trump Institute affiliate of Trump University. Four days later, Trump's foundation cut a $25,000 check to Bondi's campaign committee. Then, after the check came in, her office decided not to take any action against Trump. Bondi — whose own spokesman said Bondi personally asked Trump for the money — says the two things weren't related. But imagine if another prosecutor did such a thing. This week, I looked at the records in the New York case and found complaints from several Floridians. A North Lauderdale man said he spent $8,750 and never got a promised mentor. A Miami resident said she lost "more than $40,000" paying for services that weren't provided. A Hollywood man said he quickly determined the seminars were "a complete scam" and was denied his "satisfaction guarantee" refund (a key detail in all this). All told, the New York case covers a a total of 827 Trump courses taken by Floridians, said Doug Cohen, a spokesman for Schneiderman. Think about that. That means Floridians who feel victimized have to hope that an elected official more than 1,000 miles away will right any alleged wrongs. Bondi's office claimed it took no action because it found nothing worth pursuing. But I can't find much evidence that staffers actually looked." |

Kayleigh McEnany claims Trump money to Bondi exposes ‘the system’
https://www.rawstory.com/2016/09/cnn-panel-bursts-into-laughter-as-kayleigh-mcenany-claims-trump-money-to-bondi-exposes-the-system/ She is something! |
| Did Trump make any other contributions to the FL or TX attorneys general at times unrelated to the Trump U. investigation? Also, did Trump make any contributions to other state AGs that weren't investigating Trump U? I haven't seen these details reported anywhere. |
The contribution to the TX AG took place later in time (years after the investigation was dropped), and TX dropped the investigation of Trump U on the condition that Trump U exit the state, which it did. I haven't seen that FL did anything like that, but reporting about the FL AG issue hasn't been deep, as far as I've seen. The TX then-AG now governor has been involved in some very shady deals, but this one seems straightforward. I haven't seen any in-depth report of what exactly happened in FL, and when. |
| 12:06 here. The FL AG contribution was days before the investigation was dropped. So the timing is considerably more suspect. |
|
OpenSecrets and FollowtheMoney don't reveal any AG donations. Then again, the Don doesn't exactly follow the rules.

He also tried to buy the NY attorney General and when he could not do it, went to smear him by claim that the NY Attorney General was asking money to drop the case. New York’s ethics commission reviewed Trump’s claims and voted not to pursue them. |
Such a display of integrity and respect for the judicial process. |
| Why does Bondi style herself like a hooker, not a professional? Inquiring minds want to know. |
Because Florida. |

More on this from the reporter who originally noted that Trump's contribution immediately followed Bondi's announcement of a possible AG investigation:
"Trump still has plenty of defenders about all this. I've heard fewer defenses of Bondi's behavior. (Probably for good reason.) Still, among the few, I have yet to hear ANY Bondi defenders finish this simple sentence: "I think it is perfectly appropriate for a prosecutor to take big chunks of money from someone she has been asked to investigate because ...." http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/taking-names-scott-maxwell/os-bondi-says-clinton-bullied-her-here-are-the-facts-20160907-story.html |

Trump also had a fundraiser for Bondi in Mar-a-Lago after Trump U case was passed on:
