Help! Dumb last-minute question re: preschool orientation day

Anonymous
My kid's preschool orientation session is tomorrow -- and somehow I thought that the parents were supposed to stay during that time (it's only a 45 minute slot). But based on something another parent said, I'm now wondering if typically these orientation days are a drop-off situation rather than having the parent stay with the kid. (DD is going to Silver Spring Day School, if anyone reading this knows how they do things...)

TIA for any insight! Just need to prepare DD in the morning if it's going to be different than what we thought...

tell dd it could be either and that you will just be outside in the car if you can't stay.

every preschool orientation i've been to you stay. Same for Elementary school too. Middle school is drop off.

Whew, okay, that's reassuring, thanks. DD is really timid about these kinds of things and since I've been telling her I'd be there with her, I'd feel terrible if I had to pull a switcheroo on her the morning of the orientation!

At our preschool orientation (VA), parents drop the child off in their room and head elsewhere to hear from the Director. Parents pickup their kids from the classroom about an hour later. This procedure was explained in a recent newsletter, so maybe you should read back through any communications from your preschool?

Ours also stressed making it a quick and simple goodbye - trying to establish the routine with the children, including the knowledge that they'll be picked-up later by their parent. Makes sense to me! A practice opportunity before preschool actually starts!

Thanks. No, it wasn't anywhere in the materials from the school - but PP was correct, it was a parent-in-the-room deal.
