Stickley knock-offs?

Anonymous
We are on the hunt for a sideboard/buffet and have had no luck buying something gently used. The MSRP of the one at Stickley is something like $6K and we just can't stomach spending that knowing it may get damaged with young kids in the house. But we love the look. Anyone have any luck having Amish furniture made in this same style, or in general? With our proximity to that area I always wondered it there was a source of good quality furniture that we could maybe travel that way (PA) see it in person, and haul it home.

Post a pic, maybe we can find you a cheaper version.

The URL is fine.

Check Overstock and Wayfair. Lots of great options and WAY less than $6k. We've bought several pieces of furniture from both places and have been happy with them.

And I'm going to chime in with Joss & Main. I'm a new convert.

With all the on-site places, though, look at the product specs carefully. Some are heavy on assembly. And read the reviews - they usually are very helpful. Wayfair usually is free delivery, I think and Joss & Main will deliver free with some items (it seems to be a 'sale' deal with them). Overstock I think I might always have paid delivery.

Haven't tried the Amish. Hardwood artisans will likely have something similar for less but still very expensive. You could also check out Little Homestead in Rockville (there's also a place in Alexandria that has some mission/craftsman but the name escapes me).

PP, even with kids, a sideboard likely wouldn't get much damage or abuse. It's not a heavily used piece of furniture. That said I wouldn't spend $6k on a sideboard myself.

Here's another craigslist one that is actually Stickley:

Buy a quality antique that has already been used for 100 years. Don't buy junk that is thrown together with nail guns. You can buy a Gustav stickley sideboard for half as much as a brand new stickley sideboard.
