Count down clock

Anonymous
So, today it has been 271 days since HRC (Her Royal Clinton) has granted a press conference.
Pretty poor for a presidential candidate. Meanwhile, Trump has had around 16.

Just to keep track, many media organizations have a count down clock. Here is one I reference:

http://www.tickcounter.com/countup/1449273600000/us-central/dhms/FFFFFF3B5998000000FF0000/Days_Since_Hillary's_Last_Press_Conference

Here is what some of the press is saying:

WaPo:
I am under no illusion that even if Clinton doesn't give a press conference all the way through the election — a span of 339 days — lots and lots of voters will make their minds up based on this issue alone. They won’t.

But it's beyond debate that Clinton has honesty and trustworthiness issues with the general public. In an August WaPo-ABC poll, 62 percent of voters said Clinton was neither honest nor trustworthy. (That number includes 69 percent of independents who say Clinton isn't honest or trustworthy.)

Refusing to hold a press conference plays into that distrust — and might even magnify it.

There's a responsibility that comes with the job Clinton is running for — a responsibility that goes beyond simply winning. Clinton's resistance to any real engagement with the media in the campaign sets a dangerous precedent for how accountable and transparent she might be as president.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/08/24/hillary-clinton-still-has-no-good-answer-on-why-she-hasnt-held-a-press-conference-in-263-days/

WSJ:
Still, Mrs. Clinton’s refusal to hold a press conference remains a daily distraction for the Clinton campaign, one that directly speaks to voters’ concerns about Mrs. Clinton’s openness and transparency and their overwhelming lack of trust in her.

The Clinton campaign is rightly reluctant to subject the Democratic nominee to a formal news conference. As the campaign has progressed, more and more negative news has emerged. This week alone, there have been the 30 emails related to Benghazi, the State Department’s announcement that it would not finish releasing Mrs. Clinton’s schedule as secretary of state until weeks past Election Day, and polls showing Mrs. Clinton’s popularity at an all-time low. Her unwillingness to hold a news conference has also raised the stakes, ensuring this will be a major campaign event whenever she finally does it.

Politico:

On Aug. 30, 2016, the Trump campaign blasted out an email titled, "HIDING HILLARY: DAY 269," going on to explain that "it has been 269 days since (Hillary) Clinton has held a press conference." Among other things, the email pressed Clinton to take reporters’ questions on aspects of her relationship to the Clinton Foundation.

Trump’s email said, "It has been 269 days since Clinton has held a press conference."

Only one event in the past 269 days -- Clinton’s appearance before the minority journalists’ convention -- could reasonably be considered a press conference, and there are good arguments for why it isn’t. The questioners were limited to a small pool of convention participants, leaving most of the Clinton campaign press corps -- the dozens of journalists who know the campaign the best and who had complained the most about lack of access -- without an equal shot at asking a question.

The statement is accurate but needs clarification, so we rate it Mostly True.

7 pm on Friday, September 4. Hillary will have a press conference to announce she has been anointed the next president of the US.

A well-thought out and documented presentation by a Hillary critic, followed by a meaningless brush-off by a Hillary supporter. Speaks volumes.

Ugh. Age probably set this up. Planted the idea/specific phrases to her media partners. Then she'll do a press conference to make it seem like she responds. She's always one for a "playbook." Manipulative.

Or she won't do one. I dunno. If this is the case, then yes, we should be concerned (more than ever) about her lack of access to the free press.

Which one is it?

Age = she. Also remove the "ugh." That was just my immediate disgust showing.

A countdown clock goes to zero.

Forgive me. A “count up clock.”
Or, a “ticker clock.”
Or, a "#Where’sHillary clock."
Or, a “Hillary avoiding the press clock.”
Or, the “Hillary talk clock."

Whatever.

Will someone ask about her Wall Street speeches?

Every time trump holds one, he looks like a bigger jackass. They aren't required. But if he keeps wanting to do them, feel free.

The obsession with this is so bizarre.

Maybe if someone could articulate an intelligent question to ask there would be a point to holding a press conference while Trump is foundering. All of her policy positions are laid out. All the Clinton Foundation financials are online. There will be debates, at which time she will be asked questions. In the meantime anything said will be microanalyzed and some vague inconsistency siezed upon. The public doesn't care about press conferences. Only the media and pundits and rabid Clinton-haters do.

Ask her what exactly? Was she compensated for speeches she was hired to give? I think we know the answer to that already. So why is Trump refusing to release ANY of his tax returns? Because he would be exposed as a liar?

Surely you have something better to do than post on DCUM, Senator Sanders.

How many days ago did Hillary release her tax returns?
