New Hampshire or Vermont recommendations please.

We would like to visit this summer. We are interested in mountains and lakes. Niceish resorts too.
Any recommendations?
TIA

I would head up to Stowe. There are several resort places (can't think of their names but you should be able to find online easy enough - including the Van Trappe Lodge). Cute downtown, bike/walking trail that goes to town (great if you're staying along the access road), hiking, canoeing, small town theater, restuarants, close to Monteplier and Burlington and other VT sites (Shelbourne Farms/Village (?), Ben and Jerrys).

I wrote a post about the Mount Washington resort in New Hampshire-look it up..just beautiful. Think Greenbrier but in New Hampshire and you have it. This is a wonderful area of the country-have fun!

Woodstock, Vermont has a nice resort plus nice shopping and upscale restaurants with pretty little surrounding towns for sightseeing, etc. Also in Vermont is the area around Sugarbush Resort, Waitsfield area - not as upscale as Stowe - more down to earth for serious hikers, bikers but also with great restaurants and Inns. The Balsams in Dixville Notch, NH (way up there) is also an elegant, old world resort - on a beautiful lake - even more elegant (IMO) than The Mt. Washington resort.
Topnotch in Stowe is a nice resort, if you decide to go to Stowe.

We really loved the Mountain View Grand in NH when we stayed there over the Christmas holidays. It is a full service hotel that is not too big. The staff and facilities were both wonderful.

Tyler Place outside of Burlington. We went last year with our kids and had a blast. It's on Lake Champlain with lots of water activities. It is all-inclusive (with camp for the kids).
