Any parents of boys...?

Help! I need to find 3 more host families for some teen boys (ages 16-17) from Spain. They will be here with a group for 3 weeks: July 6 - 27. This is only a few weeks away and I'm DESPERATE for families for these boys!

Families can "share" a student with another family, in the event you can't do all 3 weeks. Host families also provide a separate place to sleep (shared rooms, futons, air mattresses, etc. ok), 3 meals/day, and a assistance with transportation to activities in Northern VA. Families are spread out all over the place, so there are a lot of families that carpool.

I think it's a disservice to these boys that you're trying to find parents to take care of them for 3 weeks on an anonymous board.

Ask around with people you actually know -- neighbors, friends at your kids' school, a church where you know the people, friends of yours, nearby family, etc.

To sum up, make sure you know the people you are asking to host these kids -- you don't know who is reading DCUM, it could be anybody.

I would hope that she would follow up any leads that she got here with phone calls, etc. I see no problem with initially reaching out to people on DCUM.

I do not think it's a disservice in the least! My son went to a Spanish immersion program, and this great be a great opportunity for us. OP, if you do not hear from me, it's because I couldn't juggle around a few things.

Thanks for the supportive answers! Fyi- you can "share" a student with another family if you can't do the full time. I have 3 families (all pre-screened, btw) that can do the last week or so of the program. The beginning, July 6 - 17 seems to be the biggest challenge.

Flyers and word of mouth are the best way to get the word out about the program.
