Anyone have feedback on this center? I searched DCUM but can't find much.

My son has been there since he was 4 months and is now 2yrs. What do you want to know?

OP here: What do you think of the quality of care at the center (I assume you like it since your son is still there)? General pros/cons? Teacher turnover? Do you like the director? Will you stay until Kindergarten or are you looking to switch to a preschool?

All of the teachers are very caring and responsive to parental preferences. I used glass bottles and asked that they not be heated when my son was an infant and they didn't mind. They fill out detailed sheets every day and all of the teachers have been really easy to work with. There seems to be very little turn over. I don't talk to the director often because we have not had any issues. The educational director is very present and all the kids know and love her. My son has learned a lot in his time there - he says please and thank you, he cleans up voluntarily, he sings songs and loves to be read to or to look at books carefully without ripping pages. They seem to have a very child-led and shame free approach to potty training which I like. My son has rarely been sick. I think he's missed 4 days total in 2 years, so whatever their cleaning process is, it works.

However - the cost has gone up a lot every year. When we started it was $100-200 more than Rosslyn Children's center and now it is maybe $400-500/mo more. It is quite expensive. My husband pays $8/day to park at the Hyatt across the street and take the metro downtown, so the location is very convenient for us. My son is also very happy there which lessens my motivation to get on lists all over again.

We will likely go somewhere else for preschool if we find a suitable all-day program that seems better and not just less expensive. I am not sure what would make another play-based program better to be honest, but my husband wants to check out some Montessori schools closer to home. Right now we are using our toddler for sibling preference for our soon-to-be born infant.

We toured but were unimpressed - the director was a little bitchy and there was a little girl crying by the door in the toddler room the WHOLE TIME we were touring and no one was paying any attention to her. It's also $2300+ a month, which is absurd.

Where did you end up? How much?

We are at an in home daycare - I can see the pros and cons of both types of care but I'm so happy we went this route. Most kids leave at 2 or 3 for preschool so we are getting the Center structure at a later age.
