Does anyone knows about this Birth control called MIRENA???
They say we can use it for 5 years but stop using at anytime if we want to get pregnant...Any one using it??? |
| Try doing a search - its been discussed. Its fairly common - and yes it lasts 5 years and you remove it if you want to get pregnant. |

I second the recommendation to search the archives. You can read hundreds of posts about Mirena. Here's a link to explain the basics of an IUD

I had Mirena inserted about three and half months after giving birth. There were side effects for the first five months (heavier periods that gradually got lighter), but I am so pleased that I don't have to have another one inserted for five years. I had one child at 40 and didn't want any more. MY OB told me it is 99.9 effective and recommends it over sterilization. You can also have it removed any time if you wish to conceive again.
The up front cost is about $500 but my insurance covered most of it since it was classified as a prescription. Hope this helps. I'm so glad I got it and have not had any problems. An added bonus is that I don't get a period for several months at a time. |
