We would like to take a day trip to Virginia Safari Park. Four adults (2 of the adults are 20)
Has anybody been, and can provide advice? Thanks for any tips! |
Google it--they've had some issues with animal treatment |
Sad . Mangy animals and they rip the feed buckets out of your kids grasp |
Someone just won a lawsuit against them because an animal bit a girl's arm or something. Just read about it recently. I can't imagine giving them money; it's the same people who used to own the Reston Zoo. |
There is a safari in NJ at Six Flags. The ticket price includes the rides and safari. It takes about 2.5 to 3 hours from DC. |
The old owners or the new ones? Isn't it under new management or something? It's been renamed. |
Went earlier this year. I thought it was pretty scary and sad for the animals. The animals are very aggressive for the food. We had to throw the feed out the window for fear of the animals attacking! We had our one year son with us. |
Go to the reston zoofari. Closer, smaller but very pleasant. |
Oh for crying out loud of course the animals go for the buckets, they want a meal not a snack. This is the same for any interactive type zoo. We had a good time there, the animals seemed well cared for and DD really liked the giraffe encounter. We spent about 45min-1hr just on the drive through part and another hour walking the grounds.
Haven't been to the Reston zoo since the management changed, will probably give that another go this fall. |
Old owners. The park in Reston is now called Reston Zoofari. |
We go every year and have a blast! One of our best family memories! You guys could suck the joy out of anything! |
+1 |
Have not been but my friend who lives in outer Va burbs loves it, she goes every year with her kid (now age 7) and I guess the added bonus is visiting Natural Bridge nearby. |
