| We chose Montessori over language immersion for pre k 3. Now we regret the decision. Will these early jitters pass or did we royally mess up? Anyone else experience a similar situation? |
|
It's preschool. Of course you can change your mind later.
You haven't doomed your child to a life of monolingualism or taken Harvard off the table. You must have had good reasons for your decision. Focus on that and help your child bloom where she is planted. |
| Enjoy your free daycare and stop complaining. |
| Your kids will learn the most from you, not the school. Focus on being the best parent you can be. |
\ This. and stop buying into the hype. being sorta bilingual in spanish/english is really not that amazing, nor does is open secret doors. |
| You can't "royally mess up" pre-k 3. |
| Yes, but you can make the wrong choice and find yourself locked out for future years. |
Kids are resilient. Parents less so. What worries you about Montessori? The independence factor? The parents in the classroom? |
And new options will open up. Or you can move. All the 'choices' we have can also be more than a little crazy making. If you're prone to it you should just start planning your move to the suburbs now where things are simpler if not always perfect. |
She'll probably change her mind again by 1st grade anyway |
|
Has PK3 even started for any of the Montessoris yet?
|
| You'll be fine, OP. Your kid is 3. If you find that Montessori doesn't work for you (it didn't work for us at all), you can switch to another school next year. The odds will be less in your favor but you can do it. |
Breakthrough PK3 starts Monday. |
| Too early. Hang in there. Make a change if needed after a year. It's going to be alright. |
| choices = opportunities for regret. There will be pluses and minuses at all options. All the research supports play-based the most through kinder. |
