Does your DC who takes medication for their ADHD get pissed off when

Anonymous
my 16 year old DS has ADHD. He takes adderall for it. The other day I just told him that I'm going to pick up the medication at Walmart. He was so pissed off ! He started cursing me out. The reason he did was because his brother was there next to him. Is normal for a 16 to get pisssed off when you talked to him about his medication ? When his alone he doesn't get mad

Yes, it is. Please respect his privacy.

If his brother didn't know he took medication (although I don't see how that is possible), I could see why he would be mad.

Yes, my fifteen year old flips out.

He is craving for that part of his life to remain private. I would do my best to respect that. Its really not a huge task, just keep it quiet and be sensitive to that.

My 15 yr old is now refusing to take his medication for school. We gave him a break over the summer and now he thinks he does not need it. Any mention of medication even with his doctor and he gets mad.

Thanks, I just told him if he wanted to come with me. He asked me where we were going I asked Walmart to pick up your medication.

They're not rational - they are teenagers. Had you simply said 'walmart' you might have gotten a different reaction. Or not. But the desire for privacy and to not have any problems or differences called out or mentioned publicly is totally normal.

Maybe he's mad because you're using Walmart? I can't stand the place either. Have you tried switching to a different pharmacy?

But do you get how you violated his privacy by doing that?

+1. Are you always this horrible, OP? No wonder your kid is angry. Appalling.
