Cares Harness

Anyone use one of these? Worth buying? I read that it might make sleeping more difficult on the plane.

We've used one for over a year and have been very happy to have bought it. My parents have a car seat, so when we visit them the harness means we can safely secure DS on the plane. Even when we need to bring our car seat, I'd much rather check the seat and use the harness, rather than carrying the seat though the airport and trying to install it on a plane.

In terms of sleeping, we do take DS out of it during part of the trip, as long as there is no turbulence, so he can sleep then.

I expect to sell the harness when we're done with it, so we'll recoup some of the money and, if we use it on 3-4 trips a year for 3 years it will be well worth the cost.

We also used one on our last trip, and aside from the sleeping issue found it very useful. I think the fact that it's a 5 point (sort of) harness made it seem like the car seat, and DS sat there happily for take-offs and landings. Of course, one time he did fall asleep all slumped over and we had to take him out, but it wasn't a big deal, and I think we probably will use it for a few more years.
