| What do you think? |
| I went. What do you want to know? |
Did you like it? |
| I went too. Pros: small classes, beautiful campus, very small student body so you can get to know people and it's easy to find a club/organization you want to get involved in. Cons (excuse the pun): got too small for me and I transferred my senior year, it's very prep-school-ish, too isolated (New London is pretty boring). |
| New London is the dregs. Kids are literally trapped on campus. Close to RI shore and Mystic. This will be one of those schools that's fighting for survival in a decade. |
| My D's boyfriend was a recruited athlete there. he first went to Williams then transferred sophomore y4ear for a host of reasons. he really liked it plus he was closer to my D. It is a beautiful campus, and the crowd is a nice group, on the preppy side but you can get to major cities fairly easily and quickly. Great academics. |
| I went after I failed out of an away college. I wasn't going to get "the college experience" but to get the degree. I worked part time, then full time, then full time AND part time while going to school. Took me five years to get an associate's degree. I learned very little except how to game a system. |
Uhhh... This person is definitely not talking about Connecticut College. |
Fighting for survival? Because of the location? It's gorgeous and near the beach and cute coastal cities. Two hours from Boston and two hours from NYC. The campus is extrodinarily beautiful, with an 800 acre arboretum. I'm sure there are things you could find to criticize the school but I don't tho k location is one of them. |
| It's especially strong in international programs and their IR program. Excellent opportunities to study and work abroad. |
not pp. but no, it isn't because of the location. But it'll be fighting for survival by 2050 at the latest. The value proposition isn't there for the cost and it has a tiny endowment. Schools with this profile will be going the sweet briar way. |
| I just looked up its endowment. It's 285 million. Is it so small that it is at real risk of finacial collapse? Am honestly asking. I looked up a couple other similar schools (Bates, Kenyon) and their endowments are similar or less. |
Ugh NOT. Someone is here to bash, likely got thrown out. I know from my D's boyfriend who was an excellent student this is not an easy school to make it in. Small, yes. Competitive very much so. New London is not much more than a tiny town but there are many big city options not so far away plus a convenient ferry which is how my D visited him. |
I think they just confused it with U. Conn. Connecticut College does not issue Associates Degrees. |
| What do other NESCAC grads think about Conn College? Bird of the same feather? |
