Hi- At the risk of being flamed, I have about 15-18 bottles of wine I know we won't drink: it's all name brand but not to my taste: White Zinfandel, Chardonnay, Rex Goliath, etc. Inexpensive - they've been brought to my house as hostess gifts, etc. I know we will never drink them or serve them to guests. I've stored them properly but wondered if anyone knows how I can donate them? Seems wrong to dump them down the drain just because they're not to my taste - surely others might want them? |
Bring them to me!! |
Do you have kids in a school? Could be donated to be served at a fundraiser party? |
How about a school auction donation? Probably can't do it for a public school, but this would be a great basket for a preschool or independent school auction. |
Take them to parties. Keep the circle going. |
You could simply cook with it. |
Perfect thing to bring to a potluck where wine is an option, school holiday parties, office parties, etc. Alternatively, make Sangria or punch. |
Cook with it. Give them as gifts at parties you attend. Save them for when you have guests.
We got a lot of bottles of champagne and white wine at our house warming party 3 years ago (which we don't drink), and we are still going through the stash when we have guests who like white wine. But, maybe your friends are pickier than mine. |
Yes, others want them, do not dumb them!
|
Our Catholic Church used to request people's "dusty bottles" to stock the bar at fundraising events.
Do you have a neighborhood listserv? You could stock someone's Labor Day BBQ. Work parties? Or heck, just post on FB and people will take them. |
I have this same problem. Tons of bottles of cheap wine. Doesn't it go bad? I'm always afraid to bring it somewhere in case it's skunked.
I thought cheap wine didn't last more than a year or two. |
Regift them to the people who brought them over in the first place. Clearly, they think the crappy wine is drinkable if they gifted it to you. |
I'm glad I don't live the kind of life where any wine bottle ever gets dusty. |
We bring them to potluck type events or use them for cooking if they aren't swill. I don't think you have to worry about them being skunked - most probably have screw tops so it's less of a risk. |
Make vinegar. You can use some mother from cider vinegar to get them started. You won't believe how good it tastes. |
