| First plane trip with our 4MO coming up. 2 questions: 1) does the Graco Snugride fit in a plane seat? We didn't book a seat for DS but we're taking a shuttle to Boston on the weekend, so usually there are empty seats. 2) Do we need ID for him, like his birth certificate or something? Thanks! |

1) Yes it fits
2) I've never been asked for ID (I've taken approx 15 flights with kiddos) but I do carry a copy of the birth certificate or even doctor shot record book thing just in case. |
| Agree with PP. |
| You don't need I'd but you should make sure your boarding pass says "infant in arms." Usually you can do this either on the kiosk or at the desk. |
| Bring a copy of the birth certificate or medical records to be on the safe side. With infants they generally don't bother you for it, but some airlines are stricter than others, and the one time I got bothered for the documents was the one time I forgot them - murphy's law I guess. (FWIW DD is 18 months and has been on 9-10 round trips.) |

I know Southwest requires a birth certificate for every lap child, even if they're clearly much closer to two weeks than two years. It's bureaucratic but it takes the fight out of the situation -- either your kid is under 24 mos. or he's not, and the ticketing agent isn't put in the line of fire for making a subjective judgement.
You're obviously not flying SW this time, but it probably wouldn't hurt to call your airline and find out if they have a similar policy. |
| SW gave me a really hard time when I didn't have a birth certificate, and this was a 3 mo old. pretty annoying, clearly not a 2 yo. |
