Help! My front loading washer is coated with alien mildew slime!

Anonymous
Any Heloise-types out there who can help me with this?

I have just gone 3 rounds with Tilex Mildew and Mold cleaner, and it's slightly improved but not great. I am a terrible keeper-of-house, and have let this mildew go on too long.

Is there a solution? TIA!

Did you try running a white towel with a ton of bleach? You can also try running a white town with white vinegar. Vinegar is typically used in a 3:1 ratio so put in a lot of vinegar. If those two things don't work, call the manufacture.

In the future, leave the door open between washer loads. Washing machines get stinky/slimy/moldy because of trapped, residual moisture.

I didn't pay a lot of attention because I don't have a front-loader, and I'm not trying to be bitchy, but please check the archives of the DCUM listserv at http://mailman.dcurbanmom.com/mailman/private.cgi/dc-urban-moms-list because this topic has been covered extensively and people will have lots of advice for you. I do remember that you should keep the door open when not in use. Good luck!
