Anyone with a DD on a water polo team in/near DC? Any recommendations? 11yo DD is a strong swimmer and super competitive. Looking for something for her in addition to basketball. |
How about instead of basketball? Why sign up for so many sports? |
most kids who are active and competitive are in many different activities and do really well in school. Most doctors, coaches, trainers encourage kids to do multiple sports to avoid overuse injuries of the same motion over and over. |
Great sport! My DS loves it partially because you don't get too hot. It can be VERY TIRING and knocks him on his butt each year. He plays football in fall, basketball in winter and water polo in the spring. Says water polo is the most tiring. |
We recently moved and my DD (11) was a water polo player and we are looking for a team. The only thing I found close was in VA. Anybody have other leads? |
Another interested parent. I have 12yo who hasn't yet found a sport that he really loves. He's a very strong swimmer and enjoyed water polo at camp this summer. Are there any options for year-round water polo for the middle school crowd? |
I don't know where but swimming and water polo are supposed to be great for growing taller. My male cousin was barely hitting 5'3" as a teen and my aunt signed him up for a water polo team, very competitive(he was a good swimmer anyway) and he grew several inches. |
I have a bridge I'm trying to sell... |
There is a good one in Annapolis. There is also one in Arlington but doesn't have the same reputation. |
Arlington club is the only one in the metro area. I played in college and have been looking for opportunities for my kids (who currently swim). For boys, Landon and Gonzaga both have HS teams. That's all I've been able to discover . .. |
OP - Thanks for the tips from folks. And yes we subscribe to the notion of multiple sports rather then pushing our kids to play one sport year round. I played soccer, softball and basketball growing up. Still play soccer in my 40s. |
