Has anyone been at a school or camp and tried this vendor's food before? Our school is switching to it and the menu doesn't look as good as it was before. I'm wondering if I should reconsider signing up my child for school lunch this year.

They are using it at my kid's preschool. The way ours is set up, you can try it one day at a time. So that's what we did with things I thought she would eat. I've tasted part of the pizza bagel and some of the pasta and it was fine. DD really likes their pastas. Even though she eats things like hot dogs and salad with grilled chicken, she didn't want to try theirs so I can't attest to it.

It's also at our preschool and I've been told it's good b but my kid is so little I don't think it's worth the price.

They had it at my kids camps this summer so I'll give my thoughts. First, I thought it was very expensive. Second, it does not look very healthy--most of the sides were just chips. It was very hard to find fruit or vegetables as sides with many of the options. My kids had the following meals:
Chicken tenders--rated okay Hot dogs--rated okay but major points off because they did not deliver any of the promised condiments or the side we ordered Mac and cheese -- rated okay Waffles and sausage -- waffle reportedly inedible because it was very soggy. |
Our private school did it as a pilot last couple of months of school last year. The kids really liked it. We have no cafeteria. I can pack healthier food more cheaply, but I look at buying it once a week as a treat. I can always get steamed broccoli as a side, which my son loves. And it saves me on packing lunch daily.
My kid hates it. She is not a picky eater but the food quality is low. Very few adults would eat it regularly.
expensive and my kid did not like it
Our school is switching to it for this year too, but I wish they weren't. It doesn't seem very healthy and it's so expensive for what the kids actually get.
