| I am going to be traveling international for 2.5 weeks soon with my husband and a child who will be 10 months old. Any tips at all for traveling with an infant? Every time that I think I have thought about everything something new comes up. Thanks! |
| Where are you traveling? That will be a big factor in what to bring and pack. |

OP-Eastern Europe in the Fall.

Where? |
| Eastern Europe is fine. You can buy whatever you need or forget there. I did it so many times. No issues and I packed just common sense. Bring enough formula is there is specific brand your baby needs, otherwise there is really no cause to overpack. What is it that something new comes up? Kid will sleep, go in a stroller, be carried. I don't really think anything special is needed. Car seats are not even required there. |
| I spent several months in E Europe when my younger as a baby. Never needed any special advice or products. My baby preferred German formula they sell there to similac. |

OP- thanks! Traveling in Eastern Germany and Czech Republic. I am bringing a carseat, stroller, and the Guava Lotus bed- because a lot of hotels couldn't guarantee a crib.
Mostly worried about infant food and how much to pack. My baby has dairy/soy protein sensitivity so we have to use specialty formula- Nutramigen which I will bring enough of. I'm wondering about ready to eat solids for stage 2 and 3. I mostly use Gerber and the pouches here, the ones that don't contain dairy and/or soy. Is their bottled water fine to use to mix formula? |

We've done this a few times and just got back from a trip to Germany with a 14-month-old. Since you're bringing the car seat I would recommend buying a GoGo Babyz cart (or similar product) so you can wheel the car seat around the airport. This was a lifesaver for us. We brought the seat on the plane since we'd bought the baby a ticket and gate checked the stroller. I also used my Ergo to carry my daughter on and off the plane, through customs, baggage claim, etc.
We brought enough diapers for the flight and first day or two but then bought more when we got there. Same with wipes. When we took my son at 10 months old we had to bring formula along and used bottled water to mix. We also brought a bottle brush to wash things in the sink at night. We brought some food but mostly purchased pouches and other things when we got there. I haven't been to Eastern Germany but in the areas outside of Munich they have a great variety of baby food and products so we love finding new things over there. Good luck! |
| Euro standards for food safety and their respect for allergies are far superior to ours. You will be 1000% fine buying pouces and using water there. They have amazing labeling. Have so much fun. |
| Had light weight umbrella stroller (McClaren) that could handle streets, easy to manage. Ergo carrier for on/off plane and thru customs - walking longer distances or thru public transportation. Brought diapers for first couple days - I did find that not all diapers are created equal. My DS could wet thru just about everything so I ended up packing a fair number of US diapers that I knew worked to keep down the need for washing his clothes but with that said I had a hard time finding a perfect fit for diapers there. We were gone 10 days and did not have easy laundry service - purchased detergent there to wash things in the sink. We have a Pea pod "tent" for DS to use to sleep in. In terms of food - brought enough with us for flight first day etc. In hindsight because of his diary/soy issues I actually wish I had brought more instead of "experimenting" there since we ended up with his stomach being upset from the food we bought there. I was still nursing at that point so I increase his nursing and decreased the solid food intake to get things back on track. Extra outfits for you and your baby on the flight- any favorite toys/things to distract. |
| Bring more smaller containers of formula, vs just one or two big ones. Put some formula in each bag ur bringing, just in case stuff gets lost. Bring way more with you in your carry one, just in case you have a delay. |
