My 9 year old just confided in me that her "boobies hurt". What she described sounds like growing pains. She seems young, but is beginning to develop a little in the chest and this spring we definitely needed to introduce deodorant. I'm torn, would adding a layer be more uncomfortable or provide support and relief? (I have a very small chest and am pretty sure I started wearing a training bra b/c my friends were, not b/c I needed one, but do sort of remember some early tenderness) Any other thoughts to help bring her relief or at least not feel self conscious?

She's not young for this - I was just in my son's third grade class and a number of the girls have buds.
I would just bring home some training bras and undershirts and let her choose what works. |
| I started wearing a bra at nine. Nope, not too young. The bra I picked out of a Sears catalogue (wow that sounds old-fashioned!) was a huge relief...when it wsn't being snapped by my classmates. |

My daughter didn't need one until 11, but she asked for one at 10 because other girls were wearing them.
We just buy the stretchy ones at Target, so she doesn't have to deal with hooks, let alone cup sizes. They're just in S, M, L and XL. |
| sports bras from target. not so much like a real bra but gives support. plus they're not so expensive. |
