I can't find mine to see when it expires, but it was issued in Oct 1999. Are they usually good for 10 years, or 5? If I wanted to renew it (assuming it's expired), is that a simple enough thing to do that I could go on a cruise to Bermuda in say early July 09?

(1) If it is an adult passport, it is good for 10 years.

(2) You are cutting it way close to renew an adult passport for July. I would strongly recommend using a commercial expedite service. There will be an additional fee, but they can get it for you in less than a week. There are several in D.C. (google)

Thanks for the info. I checked out the state dept's website and I think I'd be okay entering Bermuda in July on a passport that expires in October. Some countries require you have at least 6 months to the good left on your passport, but I don't think Bermuda and the Caribbean are among them. I'm pretty sure I got it in the fall of 99 too.

But as soon as I get back, I need to renew that puppy asap.
