Has The Donald's attitude towards Hispanics rubbed off on Ivanka?

So apparently Ivanka drafted a statement following her father's statement that Mexico was sending us their rapists that defended her father. Though it was never used by the campaign, she was asked to describe it recently in a deposition involving the lawsuit involving Jose Andres dropping out of his agreement to be involved in the Old Post Office restaurant:

“His statements were mischaracterized as being a categorical attack on Hispanics,” Ivanka Trump said during her deposition when asked whether she had drafted a statement, according to the report. “And I felt that it was very important that he clarified the fact that that was not the case. He had not said that. He had not attacked Hispanic people. But that was the immediate narrative that had been spun.”

Trump said she wanted a clarification, not a retraction, from her father because she felt that his "comments were being misconstrued."

In the deposition, Trump was asked to share what her statement said.

"It said that I — it said — basically I was playing around with the idea of the fact that the media was spinning what he said to be about Hispanic people generally, as opposed to illegal immigrants, which he subsequently clarified on his own in countless interviews," Trump said. "And the fact that my father has a tremendous relationship with people of Hispanic descent."

In other words, she thought it was okay for her dad to say that the illegal immigrants coming in from Mexico were rapists. And note the grandiosity of "my father has a tremendous relationship with people of Hispanic descent" -- remind you of anyone?

I had a lot of respect for Ivanka before this campaign because she avoided so many of the pitfalls of other rich kids and seemed like a decent person. But she clearly has her hands in pretty deep into the nutball policies and campaign of her father, and at some point I started to think maybe the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree.

You can't be associated with this campaign and not be tainted. Same for Ryan and Prebius. Or can you? What do you think?

I don't see anything wrong with this. Plus, who cares about Ivanka? Liberals have a hissy-fit if we question Hillary's ethics (or lack thereof) and yet level such ridiculous concerns about someone who isn't even a candidate.

What are you talking about? She says in the last paragraph that the racist liberal media miscontrued her dads statement when they said it was aimed at all hispanics and that her dad clarified he meant illegal immigrants from mexico because the majority IS from mexico and that is what he initially said before the media skewed it.

They are both wrong. The majority of illegal immigrants from Mexico aren't rapists or murders. More like, they are house cleaners, gardeners day laborers, and farm workers. Yes, there of course bad apples in the bunch, as there are all in any race, ethnic, religious groups. Please not, I am not advocating for illegal immigration.

Exactly. This is what gets me about many Trump supporters, what Donald said was dumb and racist. He never apologizes for the things he says even when they are beyond the pale.

Ivanka is very well spoken, but seriously, she's smart enough to realize that her father spouts off on any topic, including wanting to have sex with her. Basically these statements are indefensible and she should not try.

P.S. PP, Hilary having a separate server was wrong. Her statements following the Benghazi attack were misinformed, but the attack and the outcome probably would have happened either way. I'm voting for her and I can assess her actions clearly. I can admit when she makes a mistake. Why can't you do the same of Trump and his supporters?

NP. I think factchecker found that HRC lies about the same rate as other politicians. IMO, lying goes hand in hand with being a politician. However, factchecker found that Trump's lies are through the roof. They've never seen anything like it in the past several years they've been doing this.
