Infertility Support and Discussion

Hi,
I'm currently in my 2ww. 5 day transfer was 6/7, beta is scheduled for this Sunday, 6/21. I just took a HPT and it is positive. I have read that you need to wait at least 14 days for the trigger shot to leave your system to prevent false positives - my trigger shot was Monday, June 1. Obviously this has been over 14 days but I am still very, very scared that this is a false positive. My embryos were not good quality and I've had AF type symptoms the past few days so I just assumed the IVF failed. Plus, why would the beta be scheduled for Sunday if I could get a positive today? I just don't want to get my hopes up. Could this be a false positive??? Thank you!! |
| I don't think it's a false positive at all! That's about 15 days past ovulation -- which is when you would normally POAS; i think the beta is scheduled for sunday to make sure it's not a chemical... good luck! |
We had our transfer on Friday morning. I got my first positive HPT Tuesday afternoon, each day after that it got darker. So most likely at this point you are pregnant! I have heard it takes anywhere from two weeks to 1 day for 1,000 units in your trigger shot (in my case 10 days).

You're pregnant!
The trigger usually leaves in a max of 10 days. I got true positives on 2 IVF cycles at 5dp5dt. Shady Grove does their betas REALLY late in order to get solid numbers that aren't questionably positive and to screen out early chemical pregnancies (I assume you're at Shady Grove given how late your beta draw is). I am currently pregnant with what was a REALLY, really crummy embryo. Never count out a crummy embryo! |

Thanks for your responses! I of course went out and bought several more HPT's today in different brands just to eliminate more doubt. I'm going to test 2 more times before Sunday just to be SURE!! But your experiences really make me feel better. This just goes to show that this really is a crapshoot. Anything can happen.
I am at Dominion, but I assume they would do the beta really late for the same reasons...? Thanks for your help. |
