Why do the female gymnasts always have high squeaky voices? The youngest they are is 16. Even Nastia Lukin (sp?) who is in her 20s and Aly Raisman both have it. What IS that?
Why when swimmers are getting ready to go into the pool, do they do a shake thing? It looks like they're making their arms vibrate or twitch. Are they shivering? Something else? Why are swimmers only given washcloths to dry off with? Everyone in the world that I know of who goes to the pool brings a beach towel. Why are they taking a square piece of fabric smaller than my stationery? |
| The towels are like those sham wow clothes. Super absorbent, you only need a washcloth size. |

The twitch thing is to get and keep their muscles loose.
The high voice thing is because the length of your vocal chords is in proportion the the length of the rest of your body. The longer your vocal chords, the lower your voice. There is, of course, natural variation, but very small people have smaller vocal chords and, therefore, higher voices. |
Here are the answers: They have high voices because they are trying to sound like the Kardashians. Their muscles twitch because of the amount of caffeine and cocaine they have ingested. The Rio Olympics could not afford bigger towels, they could only afford washcloths. |
| Do the gymnasts really have high squeaky voices? I've heard Gabby & Simone in regular interviews, and pretty sure they sounded normal then. I think if you interview anyone when they've just won a gold medal, they'll sound a little squeaky. |
It's not shaky, but squeaky. And I've noticed this at ALL competitions whether they've won or lost. Shawn Johnson has a Youtube channel and she sounds high and squeaky when talking on there. |
| Most girls that age have high, squeaky voices. |
| Short people are more likely to have high voices (though not always). Those girls are even shorter than they look. Simone Biles is all of 4'8". The tallest two are 5'2". |

Kristin Chenowith as an example: Munchkins have high voices. Remember the munchkins from the Wizard of Oz and the oompa-loompas? |
| Where can I buy a bath towel-sized sham-wow? |

Wash Post did an article on the shammys!

I got a two-fer pack at Home Depot, but sadly they were not bath sized. |
Kerri Strug was super squeaky. |
| Peter Dinklage does not have a high squeaky voice. |
