Frustrated with short cycles

Anonymous
I am currently on month 3 of Clomid, Ovidrel and TI, which has been unsuccessful since I just got my period as usual, making my cycle this past month 21 days. For the past 9 months, my cycles have been 20-22 days, which is clearly way too short. I have asked my RE about this and how we can treat it, but he doesn't seem to be doing anything about it which is making me frustrated. I don't know if there is a change my eggs could be getting fertilized but just not able to implant since I get my period so often. Plus, I have very low AMH so it seems like I am wasting eggs! Plus, I am so tired of having my period every 3 weeks - really sucks!

I ovulate around day 12, so a 9 day LP just isn't long enough I would imagine. I asked about progesterone but he doesn't want to try that right now. Unless I am missing something, can Clomid or Ovidrel lengthen your cycle? Has anyone else been in this situation, and were you able to do anything to lengthen your cycles?

OP, please go get a few second opinions. If you have a low AMH and short cycles, it sounds like you are DOR. I feel like this RE is wasting your time and eggs, when you should be going directly to IVF.

I have DOR too. What is your AMH?

When I did my medicated IUIs (that failed), my period would come on day 22 or so, my normal cycle starts on day 27-28, so I noticed that the meds were shortening my cycles, but they went back to normal once I stopped doing the IUIs.

Shortened cycles are one symptom of DOR I have read. 20-22 days is really short, especially if you ovulate on day 12. Usually DOR ladies ovulate earlier than that, around day 9-10, which is an indicator of poorer egg quality.

I would try to find an RE who specializes in DOR. It does sound like it's time to try IVF. Acupuncture could help lengthen your cycles too.

Vitamin B6 can lengthen your LP. Worked for me - my cycles were down to 23 days and I managed to get pregnant with dd first time I tried it.
