I am looking for suggestions on a local lab to do the day 2 or 3 bloodwork to get processed & shipped to CCRM. I believe it is the serum that I will freeze & ship? I have their exact instructions but called a local Labcorp & was told they didn't do that. Has anyone had this done in Nova or NW? Thanks

I've had it done at Dominion Fertility and the Sibley emergency room. SIbley was great because something came up at work and I couldn't make a morning appointment at a Fertility clinic; they saw me after office hours. However, I think I had to pay an emergency room copay and doctor's visit fee, so I would suggest it only as a backup option.
I also had LabCorp do it once but they insisted on shipping the serum themselves in the box I got from CCRM. They wouldn't give it to me. It took a lot of phone calls to find someone who knew what I was asking and could authorize the local LabCorp staff to do it. I would imagine that Shady Grove and other clinics in this area would do it also. |
I did the draw at one of the Inova hospital labs and then shipped it myself.
Any of the Inova facilities. We actually had this done at Inova Reston on Saturday. They charge $35 for the service and will give the serum back to you per the instructions (just a note that the serum will be yellow). And then you can freeze it at home and ship Monday thru Thursday.
Shady Grove does not provide this service
I found the shipping blood thing to be too stressful so I ended up just going up to NYC and having blood drawn at Cornell and then spending a day alone enjoying NYC. at the time I had a fairly chill job and I just called in sick. Obviously this may not be an option for you but if you have trouble finding a place to ship it, it could be a plan b.

Hi everyone, I am in the same boat as the OP here from 2016. I just received my shipping kit from CCRM and I have about a week to figure out where to go for my Day 2 or 3 labs.
I live in southern Montgomery County near NW DC, so I was hoping to find a lab in MD or DC rather than going to one of the Inova labs in VA. Does anyone else have experience with this and have recommendations for labs that are willing to draw the Day 2/3 labs and give it (the serum) back to ship to CCRM? I've made note of the suggestion on this thread to try the Sibley ER, but just wanted to see if there were other recommendations. Thanks so much, and wishing everyone the best of luck on their fertility journeys! |
Did you check to see if the CCRM in NoVA or their satellite office in Rockville will do this? Not sure if they cooperate with the Colorado offices for that. The local CCRM didn't exist when this post originated.
I had it all done for shipping at Columbia fertility in NW. inwas a former patient there and they were very cooperative. I’d find a fertility clinic bc won’t you need local monitoring eventually when you’re doing your frozen transfer? I monitored here for the first few days. Good luck
Thanks so much for the advice! I called around and CCRM NOVA said that their Tysons or Rockville offices would do it.
I did mine at CCRM Nova. They were great, super easy. Show up with the box, they're well versed in the entire process. Just make sure you keep the tracking #, while CCRM did everything correctly, Fedex misplaced my box and it was "lost" on their truck for 1.5 days. The Nova crew were great searching everywhere in their facility, and then hounding Fedex on my behalf!
