Lol if so, it’s an incredibly well kept secret from their respective spouses. |
I’m sorry you’re not permitted to dictate to others how they feel about an email, or what they’re permitted to talk about. Do you try to exert this level of control another area areas of your life? |
The sub data suggests that many of them are, in fact, not there. |
I also don't share with students why another student is out. What matters is her supervisor knew why she was out. And I knew because she chose to share it with me. |

Teachers do get a certain amount of any purpose (personal) leave. It is not a lot of leave. A substitute is in the classroom.
It is not a justification for taking your child out for weeks. Schools receive funds based on average daily attendance. If your child is out for weeks, you are damaging the bottom line. |
When I’m upset about something, I take action. You seem very upset about that email, so much so that you’ve complained for many pages. Have you emailed the principal? Have you called out those teachers for using their leave? If not, then you’re simply spewing negativity into the universe. Do something or hush. |
Again, literally no one needs to “hush” because you say so. |
If the principal doesn’t care to treat the families with respect and Gatehouse doesn’t care to use the tools they have which could improve overall attendance, why should I care more than they do? |
Well, then know your efforts are wasted. The vast majority of people will send their kids to school. The vast majority of teachers will be teaching. The Earth will keep spinning. A couple families will pull their kids for vacations, in spite of the letter. A couple teachers will use the leave that is theirs to use. The Earth will keep on spinning. And you’ll still be angry and unable to direct that anger in a constructive direction. No resolution for you. |
And you’ll still be here, trying to be the hall monitor on an internet message board. |
+1 sounds like a typical FCPS principal then. |
+1 plus, we are doing something. We are complaining. The PP can move along if they don’t like it. |

We had a staff meeting this week stating each CT needed to create interventions and document strategies and implementation dates to improve grades and test scores. “By name and by need” implement specific strategies for identified kids.
When I stated the only kids with Ds and Fs in my classes were those with 10+ missed classes so far, I was told not to focus on attendance and to determine ways to adjust my teaching strategies to catch them up on days they come. Pass the buck to teachers. Again. I’m tired. |
Omfg being asked to come up with IN CLASS INTERVENTIONS to support failing kids who are NOT IN CLASS enrages me. Of COURSE I would be supporting them if they were here! Attendance IS the intervention! |
+1. We had the exact same meeting at my school last week. Ridiculous. |
