Lodging Yellowstone with 3 kids

Thinking of Yellowstone next August. I realize that I missed the boat on National Park reservations since they opened in May. Any suggestions on places to stay outside of the park? The kids are young so minimizing driving is key. We have up to 10 days in that area.
Also, I am going to keep watching the reservations inside the park. Where are the best places to stay in the park (I.e., can fit our family)? |

| We stayed in the frontier cabins at Lake Hotel in Yellowstone with our 2 kids. They were very basic but clean and in a great location. They may still have openings for next summer. |
