Infertility Support and Discussion
| I'm likely starting IVF with my next cycle and have read a lot about the positive effects of acupuncture when combined with IVF. Based on the other posts that I've read here, it sounds like folks have gone to Lisa Eaves, Deb Earley or Dr. Sen Huang. If you saw an acupuncturist, how did you choose them? Does anyone have any other recommendations? I live and work in downtown DC, so location wise, Deb Earley or Dr. Huang seem the best, but am open to driving further if there is someone that is more highly recommended. Thank you for your help! |
| I see Dr. Huang (for other reasons) - he is SO great. I found him through a recommendation from a friend who uses him during IVF treatment (also, he has lots of baby pictures/cards from fertility patients in his office so i know he does a lot of that) - he's a really nice man & works w. GW hospital so he works w. traditional medicine too - all in all, i highly recommend him. (easy office too in the first floor of an apartment building, parking not too too hard) |
| I see Kerri Westhauser in Tenleytown, Wisc & Windom. She works with fertility patients a lot. My RE recommended her. She did tell me that IVF is more effective when you go for treatments at least a month before you start the IVF cycle. I'm seeing her while I'm on a break from meds. We haven't gotten on the IVF roller coaster. I'm planning to start back with the Bravelle and TI next cycle. |

Hello,
I go to Yipping Hu. She has offices in K Street and in Bethesda (near NIH). I have been seeing her for quite some time and am in my first IVF cycle. k |

I worked with Zoe Brenner for fertility issues and can't recommend her highly enough. I didn't do IVF but I know that she works with the Shady Grove practice so she is quite familiar. When I saw her she was in Chevy Chase but I think she is in Bethesda now. She is very warm, knowledgeable, and best of all, effective. She came highly recommended by some moms on this board and by a friend at Resolve. Good luck!
PS If you can't find her contact info through Google I can hunt for the letter I got re: the office move. |
| Kerri Westhauser is the best! I agree. She also has offices in Bethesda and Falls Church. I see my RE in Annandale and she spoke highly of Kerri |
| I saw Deb Earley and really liked her. Although she double booked my appt once and didn't show for another. Not sure what was up with her book keeping. I'm not doing accu. anymore....too many appts. with IVF. |
| I have been to Lisa Eaves and really like her. She specializes in acupuncture for infertility. Her office is in NW DC and is very convenient if you live in that area (i.e., plenty of street parking). |

Dr. Abassi at Columbia Fertility recommended Kerri Westhauser and I am very happy with her.

I am doing an IVF cycle at Dominion and was referred to Kerri Westhauser. I see her in her Bethesda office. She is very knowledgeable and I feel comfortable with her.
If this cycle doesn't work, we are going to do a couple months of Chinese herbs. |

FYI for those who are thinking of seeing Kerri in DC. Her offices moved to Dupont Circle at 1330 New Hampshire. I spoke to her today and she told me that she Lisa Eaves and Deb Early all know, like and respect each other. Kerri and Lisa (I think) used to practice in the same place.
In any event, I don't think that you can go wrong seeing any of these women. I think it just depends on scheduling and location for you. |
| I see Dr. Rifka and was told to see Kerri Westhauser. Nice to hear such good things. I have never done acupuncture before and this is my 3rd IVF. |

PP here. I got her name from Rifka too. She goes back a long way with Rifka. She told me that when she was in college she was thinking about being a doctor and was in this program that allowed her to shadow a doctor for 6 weeks. Rifka was the doctor she shadowed back then. He was doing straight OB/Gyn back then. She chose to go the Eastern medicine route but has kept up her contacts with Rifka and the doctors at CFA. She gets patients from Sacks and Abbasi, too.
I really like Kerri. She does lots of reading on both Eastern and Western medicine and fertillity, as well as other areas. She is also very warm and friendly. I had my first appointment in the new space. I like it better than the old space. |
