Boston college and progressive HS

Anonymous
My kid goes to a tiny "progressive" private HS but has decided that BC is their first choice for college. I kind of got the feeling at the info session that the admissions staff were very linked in with the parochial and public schools in DC but didn't really know what to do with the fact that my kid comes out of a tiny private school. Anyone have insight about this? Should I tell my kid (who has good grades and fine SATs) not to get their hopes up?

I did one of my graduate degrees at BC, and I taught an undergrad course. There were multiple "tiny private school" students at BC. There was even a significant Jewish population: it isn't just Catholic school kids.

My DS just finished his freshman year and he attended an international school, not a parochial or small private. He has friends at BC from many types of background. His roommate went to a public school in Texas and grew up on a ranch. You're fine.

Whew! Thanks that makes me feel better. My kid really felt it was the right place for him.

So many non Catholics go to Catholic colleges. BC is really hard to get into though.

29% acceptance rate for Arts and Sciences and 20% for School of Managemnet is what was quoted to us.
